Our baby clothes, accessories and dog jumpers are produced in Ireland by a dedicated team of knitters. Whether handknit or artisan knit using precision machinery, each piece uses ethically sourced wool from an indigenous mill in Co. Donegal. Designed to be passed on through the generations, our baby clothes are ‘forever’ pieces that celebrate a rich tradition whilst being timeless classics too.
Founded in Dublin in 2020 by Serena Grimes, Snugí is a sustainable, eco-friendly Irish knitwear Company.
Serena spent over two decades immersed in the fashion industry predominantly in Hong Kong and Austraila. During this time, she became convinced that the future of the industry needed to lie in slow, sustainable clothing that is made to last.

In 2020, Serena’s vision came alive when she started her own knitwear company, drawing on the extensive experience she had gained working in product development and supply-chain management in multinational corporations.
Serena is on a mission to revitalise Ireland’s rich knitwear heritage by bringing the ‘Snugí’ effect into homes around the world with our cosy, sustainable knitwear.
Merino wool is renowned across the world for its quality and luxurious feel. Soft and extremely fine, it’s a marvel of nature:

We source our eco-friendly wool from Donegal Yarns in Kilcar, Co. Donegal, a county famous for its rich knitwear heritage. This traditional mill looks after the whole yarn production process, from raw wool, through dyeing, blending, carding and spinning. The result is a rich, fine yarn with a multitude of flecked colours that give the wool its vibrant texture.
As they work, our experienced craft knitters build extra ‘loft’ (airiness) into the yarn, making the garments super warm whilst retaining all the natural breathability and temperature regulation of the wool. These unique qualities give our cosy, timeless pieces that special ‘Snugí’ feel.
In addition to Donegal merino, a limited number of our signature pieces use super-fine Italian merino for an extra touch of luxuriousness. The use of Italian merino allows us to offer a wider range of colours too. Our only non-merino yarn is the beautiful ‘Kilcarra Aran Tweed’ wool. This durable, more traditional yarn is very suitable for outerwear, so we use it for some of our Snugi Snamh hats, dog jumpers and other knitted accessories.
Whether they’re made with Donegal or Italian merino, or pure Kilcarra tweed wool, all our pieces are made with exceptional craftsmanship.
